According to a Market Watch 2024 survey, half of Americans (48.6%) consider themselves “broke” and two-thirds (66.2%) are “living paycheck to paycheck.” The USA is currently the richest country in the world, but it isn't everyday people who are rich. Four men own as much wealth as the bottom 40 to 50 percent of the country. This economic disparity is marked by obscene inequality between the rich and the poor. Most families can't afford their children's university educations. The USA is way down (40) on the world’s happiest countries list. Why is it economically so difficult for the everyday family in the USA?

2. How the USA became “great” back then?

After World War II, most western countries believed they needed to tax the wealthy to pay for government programs, reduce income inequality, and promote social welfare. They valued income and weatlh equality. The top tax rate in the US for the extremely wealthy exceeded 90% in 1950s and 1960s. America was considered economically great for the everyday American (not including the black Americans, of course). Today conservatives saying they want to make America "great" again conveniently forget unions were strong and the wealthy were paying their fair share of taxes then.

Note: there is no "greatness" in Project 2025.

3. What happened to your educational support?

The US government foolishly massacred unarmed students peacefully protesting the war in Southeast Asia at Kent State University in Ohio in 1970. This unfortunate massacre led to mass unrest at universities across the USA. To get revenge, the warmongers and powerful old men, wanting to reduce these democratic socialist benefits started by FDR and Eisenhower, cut out scholarship programs, privatized federal student loans, and reduced support for universities. This began a progressive increase in the cost of university education and push young people into the military. They believed that this would reduce the number smart-alecky young people who would question their authority. How dare they question the patriarchy?!

The election of Ronald Reagan in 1980 marked a turning point in US economic policy and the implementation of a series of tax cuts for high-income earners, as part of a supply-oriented economic program known as "Reaganomics", fooling people into thinking the wealthy would invest more and create more job for them. In other words, money would “trickle down”. Instead, salaries have stagnated, one percent of the USA owns 40 percent of its wealth, and the middle class has become the working poor. Where once one money-maker was able to support a family, now it is very difficult for two money-makers to support a family. Income and wealth equality became a silent problem which quietly caused the men to feel ashamed that they were not big and successful the way they were they supposed to be in "the land of opportunity" where the streets are made of gold!

The Reaganomics people, not wanting to be blamed for this stagnation of wages, started telling the struggling breadwinners that it was women, homosexuals, foreigners, heathens, and morals for “destroying the American way of life”, creating ”culture wars. You see flames of hate towards these groups being fanned every day on Fox News and Newsmax and social media influencers. This creates good drama on the political stage and a good distraction from the unfairness and deception of Reaganomics. This not only worsens the economic disparities, but it also lowers the self-esteem of traditional breadwinners, stirs up unnecessary hate, and intolerance towards civil rights activists, feminist movements, gender and LGBTQIA+ rights, and migrants rights. After all, the young white straight men, not knowing the real cause of their frustrations, were given new targets to blame. 5. How does Reaganomics affect your life today?

These wealthy influential people and corporations have bought your representatives, brainwashed your parents, and made sure you are not informed enough to figure it out. They have made it very difficult for your parents to afford your education and have thrown other barriers between you and your education. They have forced you to accept lower-paying jobs with fewer and fewer benefits and have tried to force you to join the military when you lack opportunities. If you really want to skip the military and get educated, then they force you to take out high-interest student loans, ones that even bankruptcy will not make go away.

The high-interest loans would enslave you to lower-paying, hard-to-quit jobs. If you quit them, you will not be able to make loan payments or have any health insurance. If workers get promotions, they get what we call shit-stringing jobs, meaning their job is to string poor wages and bad policies from the boss to the workers. It's a tough life designed to hold you back and control you. Any activist of human rights or civil rights activist must address the obscene inequality between the rich and poor before other problems racial discrimination, gender discrimination, discrimination against foreigners and migrants, LGBTQIA+ discrimination, and even so-called reverse discrimination be addressed. Economic equality comes before social equality in a capitalist society because money talks. Just ask George Jefferson! That is what The Silent Mutiny is about.

6. Who can you currently turn to for help?

What are you left with? A financially difficult life with little family, political, or spiritual support.
You are unable to pay for your education, and you have no one to blame but your neighbors, thanks to the xenophobic rhetoric of media outlets, politicians, and churches. Blaming others is a convenient way for some people to avoid blaming themselves or the wealthy. So, the media outlets spread distrust of liberal progressives (who actually support the working man), foreigners, other countries, races, religions, and languages, worsening the problems related to civil rights, black rights, women's rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, and feelings of reverse discrimination. President Reagan and the GOP also made laws that would allow lies to spread on TV under the guise of "freedom of speech." Now social media influencers have made it even worse. Some people turn to the church when they feel helpless, but like politicians, many churches offer nothing but “pie in the sky” and promote distrust of others not like them. They, too, have their own agendas, which are not very "Jesus-like", in practice.

What are you left with? A financially difficult life with little family, political, or spiritual support.
Many young people do not feel like they can go anywhere better or have the opportunity to do anything big, so they settle for low-paying jobs and go in for distractions—video games, social media posts, the next purchase, the next football game on TV, the next high, or the next holiday—to forget the pain, the difficulty, and the emptiness of their existence. 7. Will working hard make you rich?

Today four men in the USA own more wealth than the bottom half of America’s population. Very soon, they will not just be multi-billionaires, they will be trillionaires. And, thanks to them, you are having to choose between buying food and t-shirts this month or buying textbooks. That is obscene income disparity, income inequality! Having fallen for Reaganomics propaganda, your parents just tell you to believe in yourself, work hard and kiss the ass of the wealthy. What else can they say? BTW, there are ways to increase your income when you are young that no one teaches you. The wealthy do not want you to know them. I will explain them this later in my blog lessons.

However, by design, you must know that most of your parents' finances are already stretched way too thin. There will not be enough left over to support them in their old age. How many of you know some old person who had to sell their home for end-of-life care? The GOP are calling old people who get Social Security and Medicare freeloaders, too. In fact, the only ones freeloading off the state are corporations and billionaires who get hundreds of millions, even billions of dollars, of government subsidies and tax breaks. They love that government money, your money. They hate socialism for you, but they love corporate socialism for themselves.

Human rights, civil rights, women's rights, gay and lesbian rights, workers' rights, students' rights activists and movements all share this one income inequality problem and they need to fight to resolve this problem together. 8. Your representatives are much of the problem.

Will your votes help? Not if you can’t find better representatives. Many of your congressmen and senators, most GOP and many DNC members, are power-hungry and for sale to the highest bidders, who are rich campaign donors and lobbyists, including religious interests. The only thing they want from you is your votes (the LatinX vote, women's vote, black vote, gay vote, men's vote, the educated vote, the workers' vote, culture war votes, disenfranchised young men's) because these votes give them the power that they can sell to wealthy corporations and the billionaires, your real rulers. To get your votes, they have to make you hate each other enough to vote against each other. They do this through their speeches and media outlets, which starting in the Reagan years did not have to give you a fair and balanced presentation of the news. This has been made worse by independent podcasters and the like. This causes even worse gender inequality, racial discrimination, gay intolerance, education-level dislike, and anti-white discrimination. Your real rulers only want you to make things from the earth's resources as cheaply as possible and sell them back to you for as much profit as they can. The less they worry about you, the more they can make from you, the better.

What do you get? Pitiful long-coming paychecks, culture wars, and false election promises. That translates into worry, hate, and disappointment.. Not a very pretty picture. Like I said in the previous unit, your real rulers only want you to make things from the earth's resources as cheaply as possible and sell them back to you for as much profit as they can. They use addiction to make it impossible to escape this socioeconomic inequality.

To do this, the wealthy and their gophers use and worsen our insecurities, pain, and loneliness and get us to spend money to ease our pain. Thanks to poor parenting, some religions, and some poor educational practices, we are programmed to feel unlovable (unworthy), inadequate, or unsafe at a very early age. It is natural to want to avoid or numb these uncomfortable feelings. The easiest way to avoid them is to distract ourselves by focusing on future unrealized things outside our bodies where we will not feel or focus on our uncomfortable present feelings.

Here's how we do it. We focus on future goals to prove that we can be useful and deserving. We focus on becoming perfect to be accepted by others. We worry or daydream about the future instead of doing something about it. We post on social media hoping to wake up to a heart or thumbs up the next morning. When you watch someone throw a ball at a hoop in a basketball game, you don’t feel a thi-i-i-i-i-ng until the ball goes in or bounces off the hoop. Your feelings are suspended. Likewise, we focus on unfinished stories just to put ourselves into a no-feeling “limbo” until we get to the end.

10. Addiction keeps you reaching for clickbait.

The wealthy and their gophers first WANT you to feel discomfort and then SELL you something that will help you avoid it. The shorter the effect that something has, the better. Like sugar, ketamine, cocaine, or pornography, these products have an effect that quickly subsides and you want these things again soon, that is the things that might make you feel good enough, loveable, thin, muscular, safe enough, or rich (loans) for a while. The church makes you feel guilty and then sells you forgiveness! A fake migrant crisis sells you a "protective" fascist. Clickbait.

In fact, the product or the clickbait isn’t even that important. What is important is that you want to escape your present situation by leaving your body and reaching into an imagined future. This is a numbing or distraction of sorts. It could be porn, a scandalous story, a long piece of news, a politician's election, or a ballgame to watch on TV.

And what about social media? Do you think posts, conspiracy theories, video shorts, or video games would attract you so much if you were having an interesting or fulfilling life? All these things, including scrolling for these things, take our attention away from the feeling that we are not okay. They give us a like, a heart, or a short fix and then we return to feeling bad again and go looking for the next fix.

Each time the uncomfortable feelings get worse, too. You begin to dislike yourself more and more. That's ADDICTION. The more you dislike yourself, the more you dislike or envy others, too, making you prone to gender discrimination, racial discrimination, educational level discrimination, gay and lesbian discrimination, and reverse discrimination.
