You blew it, America. With Trump’s re-taking the White House, you have totally lost any chance of restoring your democracy with free and fair elections, and you are well on your way to living under fascist authoritarian Christian nationalist rule. Say good-bye to the possibility of economic, environmental, and social justice. These are nothing but pipe dreams now as long as you rely on elections. Noelection is going to save you. It’s going to take action. With Trump threatening to turn the nation’smilitary against all dissenters, even protest and public complaint becomes dangerous. You could declare civil war, I guess, but that leads to too much danger and death.
I believe that we can bring about real change by engaging in theSilent Mutiny, a two-decade movement in which we stop consuming certain things from industries that fund fascism, economic, environmental, and social injustice. When the US starts a trade war, we Americans don’t buy goods from the companies in other countries. If our government thinks trade wars are effective, why don’t
we? “We” means “we people”. We peoplecan engage in an effective trade war against certain industries. This will de-fund the billionaires that brought this authoritarian government upon us. We can also stop participating in activities (church, military, and baby-making) that
keep the dysfunctional system in place.
Parents,teachers, and advisors are often proud that their young people care about
justice, but these elders fear the younger ones will encounter danger during protests or that the protests will take up time and energy. The good news is that you can join in the Silent Mutiny without marching, protesting, rioting, or getting arrested. At the same time, you can become healthier and an more affluent.
